It was another great day down in sunny Newquay, with 5 players from the Callington tennisMAD Red Ball Academy taking part in the u8′s mixed event. There were 22 entrants from all over the country and all 5 competitors did fantastically well. Madeline and Piran Rolls, Scott Honey and Jacob Thomas Hegarty all played some great tennis and were successful in winning a number of their matches.
It was however John Moon who today stole the show; winning 4 out of 5 box matches, then knocking out 2 very strong opponents in the quarter and semi final’s, taking him through to reach the days final in only his third ever competition.
The whole team of players and all the parents were there rooting for him along with many of the older players and the coaching team from tennisMAD. However he was beaten in the final in a tough match by a very strong player. Still a brilliant effort and another piece of silverware for the tennisMAD Academy.
